We can install Starlink Residential lite and have you connected online quickly, ensuring a seamless setup for reliable internet in even the most remote locations!

Devon was one of the first regions in the UK to gain access to Starlink broadband, and now, with the introduction of Starlink Lite, rural areas can enjoy affordable and reliable internet connectivity. With download speeds of 50-100 Mbps and upload speeds of 5-25 Mbps, Starlink Lite provides unlimited data, though speeds may slow during peak times due to deprioritisation.

Whether you’re located in the South Hams (Kingsbridge, Dartmouth, Totnes), on Dartmoor, or in towns like Exeter, Plymouth, Torbay, or Exmoor, Starlink Lite ensures that even the most remote areas stay connected. Perfect for homes or businesses, you can experience high-speed internet wherever you are.

We also cover Cullompton, Ivybridge, Salcombe, Dawlish, Teignmouth, Tiverton, Barnstaple, Ilfracombe, Hatherleigh, Exmouth, Seaton, and Saltash.

Due to the low-latency of a Starlink Lite connection, it is ideal for video calling platforms like Zoom and FaceTime. It also works seamlessly with WhatsApp, mobile WiFi calling, and Digital Voice/VoIP services, ensuring smooth communication even in remote areas. With Starlink Lite’s reliable performance, you’ll stay connected no matter where you are.

Due to the low-latency of a Starlink connection it is suitable for video calling systems like Zoom and FaceTime. It also works with WhatsApp, mobile WiFi calling and Digital Voice/VoIP providers. We have now installed over 1000 Starlink systems and have had 100% positive customer satisfaction with the broadband connection.

3. Installing your hardware – Starlink requires a clear view of the Northern sky, but depending on the orientation and location of your property, we generally find that there is a suitable place to install the equipment. Our installation service invoices all the brackets, poles and other hardware you need.

The Starlink Gen 2 ‘V2’ hardware does not have an ethernet port on the router and comes supplied with a WiFi only connection. You may require an ethernet port to connect your hardware to other networking equipment in your home or business. If this is the case, let us know and we able to supply this for you.

The new Starlink Gen3 / V4 kit does have two ethernet ports on the Starlink WiFi router, but requires an extra adaptor to mount the dish that has to be purchased separately.

Depending on where your router is located, we may also need to help you install some additional networking equipment to get your internet connection to the right place.

The Starlink Lite monthly service charge is significantly cheaper than the full Starlink service, making it an ideal option for those looking for an affordable rural broadband solution. With no long-term contracts, you have the flexibility to cancel existing telecom services as needed.

Depending on where the dish needs to be mounted a longer cable may be required – the standard cable is 50ft – upgraded 75ft, and 150ft cables are available. Subject to availability, we normally carry these on our vans and are chargeable upgrades

We also install 5G and 4G broadband. Visit devoncomms.co.uk/4g-5g for more details.

Wireless Connections / WiFi

Starlink is so fast that the connection can be shared with multiple buildings or neighbours as long as you have a line-of-sight to the other location. This means that you can share the connection with other buildings at your location or share the initial Starlink hardware purchase and monthly charge with someone else.

Starlink delivers fantastic broadband speeds. However, as with all broadband connections, they tend to only include an entry level wireless access point with the included router. Ask us about our mesh wireless access points and UniFi network options if you want the very best WiFi connection available – you can also visit our website for more information – https://devoncomms.co.uk/wifi-installation-devon/

Digital Voice (VoIP) Telephone

If you want to cut the cord completely and retain your landline number, we are able to offer you our Digital Voice (VoIP) service. This service includes unlimited calls to UK landline and mobile phones.

Digital Voice service works with a free smartphone app which allows you to make and receive phone calls using a landline number from your mobile phone whenever it has an active internet connection (4G/5G or WiFi) or a from a physical corded or cordless phone system connected to your Starlink router (with ethernet adapter). A voicemail service can be configured to email messages from unanswered phone calls.

FAQs

Can I upgrade from Starlink Lite to the Standard Starlink plan?2024-09-18T14:20:53+00:00

Yes, you can upgrade from the Starlink Lite plan to the standard residential service at any time. This flexibility allows users to switch plans based on their changing internet needs

How does the cost of Starlink Lite compare to other Starlink plans?2024-09-18T14:20:11+00:00

Starlink Lite is considerably cheaper than the standard residential service, making it a more accessible option for those looking to minimise internet expenses. Its lower price reflects its deprioritised data speeds and intended use for lower internet consumption.

Who should use Starlink Lite?2024-09-18T14:04:19+00:00

Starlink Lite is ideal for users with lighter internet needs, such as small families or individuals seeking a cost-effective solution. Its affordability makes it a great option for those in fixed, land-based locations who want reliable internet without the higher price of the standard plan.

What is the difference between Starlink Standard and Starlink Lite?2024-09-18T14:03:26+00:00

Starlink Lite, also known as “Residential Lite,” is a more affordable option compared to the standard residential service. While it offers unlimited data, the speeds are deprioritised during peak usage hours, which means they may be slower than those of the standard plan. Starlink Lite typically provides speeds of 50 to 100 Mbps, whereas the standard plan ranges from 150 to 250 Mbps. Designed for low-usage, smaller households, Starlink Lite is not intended for in-motion or maritime use (Starlink).
